q.
What are the benefits of the SpeechMike? What does it do?
a. The Philips SpeechMike Pro allows you to control the entire dictation
process without having to touch the computer or Lexacom Talk. It provides buttons
to start the dictation, record, rewind, fast forward, play back and send it.
It also has a built in microphone and speaker, along with a track ball and
mouse buttons, so it can be used as a mouse. The Philips SpeechMike Pro can
be bought for connection to a serial COM port, or to a USB port. Our Lexacom specialists
can advise on an appropriate SpeechMike model prior to ordering.

q.
Is Lexacom compatible with my other software?
a. Yes, provided that you are running Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000 or XP. Lexacom
Talk & Type will work independently of any other software package,
allowing it to work in any business environment. It can be configured to interact
with other software packages, for example, taking the subjects name from the
other software package.
Lexacom Talk & Type will also allow you
to import other types of sound or dictation file, such as the DSS standard
supported by Olympus Professional Dictation Devices and standard wav
files (PCM) supported by most other manufacturers, ensuring you can use
any current digital dictation hardware you may already have. BDF Solutions
will be happy to advise on the purchase suitable Olympus Professional
Dictation Devices to complement your Lexacom Talk & Type system.

q.
What constitutes a user?
a. A user is either a person who dictates using Lexacom Talk or a person
who types the dictation using Lexacom Type. There are no limits to the
number of users you can have with Lexacom Talk & Type as the licencing
is per-PC, not per user.
The administrator of the system is as essential role
and therefore does not constitute either a user or a licensed seat. The Administrator
program is provided
as part of your Lexacom Talk & Type package.
